Microneedling in Chicago and Northbrook, IL

Microneedling

Oftentimes, people see the aging process taking over when they look in mirror. Some may see uneven texture, the loss of their natural skin tone or just fine lines and wrinkles. There are numerous treatments designed to restore the youthful glow and appearance of the skin. Microneedling is the latest skin therapy for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that uses a handpiece loaded with small needles to create micro-channels in the skin. This action, called cavitation, prompts a healing response that corrects the inconsistencies in the skin by stimulating collagen. Hence the term Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT.

What does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is the latest skin therapy for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation, treating many different skin issues. Many clients choose microneedling to address fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity issues due to aging, uneven skin texture or uneven tone and acne scarring.

Our Menu of Microneedling Treatments

Collagen P.I.N. Microneedling

The microneedles create a controlled injury in the skin at the dermal/epidermal junction, and the skin responds by producing growth factors, collagen and elastin. This technology successfully improves acne scarring, skin texture, pore appearance, stretch marks, melasma and pigmentation, and the appearance of wrinkles. Microneedling is recommended as a series of four to six treatments for the best results. This treatment can be performed by your esthetician and may be used on the face or body. This treatment uses a numbing agent.

  • Treatment Time: 45+ minutes

Cost: Starts at $450; add-on Retinol Peel starts at $75

Collagen P.I.N. Accelerated

Supercharge the power of your Collagen P.I.N. treatment with the added benefit of ZO® SKIN HEALTH’s Rozatrol® or Firming Serum Accelerators. These serum accelerators are applied toward the end of your microneedling treatment and then sent home with you for application for the following two weeks.

  • Rozatrol® Accelerated noticeably reduces chronic inflammation which, if left untreated, contributes significantly to the aging process
  • Firming Serum Accelerated infuses bioactives deep into the skin, improving laxity and sagging while reinforcing skin health by restoring hydration
  • Treatment Time: 45+ minutes

Cost: $75 per ampoule

Surgical Needling

This treatment uses surgical needles to create temporary channels in the dermis of the skin. This stimulates the body’s own repair response, including the production of natural collagen and important growth factors. Used for both acne and anti-aging, surgical needling significantly reduces scarring and improves the elasticity and thickness of the skin. This procedure is performed by the doctor only.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is Microneedling Performed?

Our preferred device is the Collagen PIN which utilizes a sterile, disposable needle cartridge which houses 36 micro needles that glide over a proprietary serum, penetrating the serum into the skin as it goes. Prior to receiving this treatment, a topical numbing agent is administered to ensure a positive, pain-free experience. After the needling procedure is completed, the treatment is finished with applications of serum and SPF for treatment enhancement and added protection. Depending on the depth of the needling required, the surgeon or the medical aesthetician will perform the treatment.

  • Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Because microneedling is minimally invasive, most clients are candidates for the procedure. A thorough consultation will be performed to ensure your skin is in overall good condition to receive the procedure. Although needling is effective in treating mild scarring and signs of aging it is important to have realistic expectations. Those who have severe acne scarring or deeper lines and wrinkles may not be great candidates for this type of procedure.

  • What is the Recovery Process for Microneedling?

After the microneedling procedure you will notice a slight reddening of the skin and possibly some swelling. You will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn. Your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. All of these indications are normal and will subside within a few days. If you opt for more aggressive needling, it can take upwards of a week to two weeks for the skin to be fully recovered. You will be given a post-procedure skincare protocol by the surgeon or esthetician following the procedure.
