Facelift or PrecisionTx™: Which Is Right For Me?

Posted in Facial Plastic Surgery

Men and women who have skin laxity on their lower face and neck may assume that facelift and neck lift surgery are their only options for facial rejuvenation. While surgical procedures provide the most comprehensive level of skin tightening, they are no longer the only available treatments. Many individuals are now achieving youthful contours and definition with the PrecisionTx™ laser system.

What is  PrecisionTx™?

Most people are aware of what facelift and neck lift surgeries are and what they can achieve. These procedures restore youthfulness and definition to the lower regions of the face and neck through incisions made along the hairline, around the ears, and occasionally under the chin. Excess skin is removed, and the underlying facial musculature is repositioned. Unlike surgery, the PrecisionTx™ is a minimally invasive laser contouring system that tightens tissue while stimulating collagen production. Laser wavelengths are administered through three tiny incisions to restore tightness to the lower face and neck.

PrecisionTx™ Candidates

Ideal candidates for the PrecisionTx™ are those that are dissatisfied with mild to moderate skin laxity along the lower face, jawline, and neck but are not ready to undergo invasive surgery. This is generally seen in younger patients that are trying to stay ahead of the game and target laxity that is just beginning to form.

Surgical Candidates

Candidates for facelift and neck lift surgery experience moderate to severe skin laxity along the lower face and neck as well as prominent jowls. Surgery is the big brother to laser contouring procedures like the PrecisionTx™. Facelift or neck lift surgery can be beneficial for patients of all ages and laxity concerns.

Which Procedure Is Right for Me?

Deciding which facial tightening procedure is best for you can be difficult. Both options can provide noticeable, long-lasting improvement for the right candidate. To determine which method might be suitable, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you emotionally ready for surgery?
  • How much downtime can you spare?
  • Are your facial lines and wrinkles just beginning to form or are they deeply set?
  • Do you have jowls, and to what extent?

If you are not ready for surgery, can’t spare a significant amount of downtime, and your facial aging is mild to moderate, the PrecisionTx™ may be the correct procedure for you. If your facial aging is more severe, the PrecisionTx™ may not provide the results that you are interested in. Facelift surgery is invasive and does require up to a few weeks of downtime and recovery; however, there is no better way to combat severe facial aging and skin laxity.
