Controlling Pesky Cosmetic Concerns

Posted in Body Plastic Surgery, Injectables, Laser Treatments, Med Spa, Non-Surgical Procedures

Although many cosmetic insecurities can benefit from surgery, not all aesthetic concerns require invasive fixes. Many of the most annoying aesthetic concerns can be remedied with minimally-invasive procedures that don’t require general anesthesia, incisions, or lengthy downtime but leave you looking and feeling more confident.

We all have those pesky spots, dimples, or lines on our bodies that we wish that we could eliminate. At North Shore Aesthetics, some of our patients’ most commonly asked questions have to do with getting rid of cellulite, spider veins, and acne scars. Fortunately for our patients, we offer several non-surgical procedures that can combat and remedy all of these pesky cosmetic concerns.

Cellulite

Cellulite is one of the most frustrating cosmetic concerns because there is often nothing that you can do about it. Contrary to what many individuals believe, cellulite often does not correlate with weight. Any individual with any body shape can suffer from unwanted pockets of cellulite. Cellulite appears when fat cells get trapped between the connective tissues of your skin, forming those not-so-sweet dimples on your legs, buttocks, and abdomen. Once it develops, there’s not much that you can do about it on your own since at-home “fixes” are usually only short-term remedies. North Shore Aesthetics offers Cellulaze™, a minimally-invasive, FDA-approved treatment for cellulite. During the procedure, Dr. Schlechter inserts a small laser fiber under the skin. The fiber emits laser energy that heats the fat cells and liquifies them, and the laser then releases the fibrous bands that cause the dimpling. The laser energy also stimulates collagen production, which helps to increase your skin’s thickness and elasticity. Cellulaze™provides a smooth, healthy appearance to the treated areas and long-lasting relief from the annoyances of cellulite in just one treatment. Cellulaze treatments can take up to six months to see the final results.

Spider Veins

Another common cosmetic concern that is out of your control is spider veins. Spider veins are the often blue, web-like veins that show through your skin. These veins commonly appear on the thighs and calves and often cause insecurity and the feeling that you need to hide your legs. Instead of letting spider veins get the best of your emotions, North Shore Aesthetics offers CUTERA® Excel V. This laser treatment reduces the appearance of spider veins by delivering laser energy pulses that constricts blood flow to the responsible vein. This lack of blood flow causes the vein to resorb, rendering it non-functional. Instead of hiding those “bruise-like” marks on your legs, you’ll want to flaunt your blemish-free legs with pride. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the best results.

Acne Scars

Although acne scars are common battle wounds from adolescence and young adulthood, they are not desirable ones, especially when they show up on the face. Microneedling is one of the many ways to reduce the appearance of acne scars. Microneedling is a treatment that inflicts a series of tiny wounds to the skin that stimulates a healing response, forming new collagen. This healing response does wonders by smoothing out your skin’s complexion and reducing the appearance of acne scars.

Excessive Sweating

Although excessive sweating is not as visible as some of these other cosmetic concerns, it can be just as frustrating. Hyperhidrosis is a condition that results in the constant sweating from the armpits, hands, and feet. Although there are several causes of hyperhidrosis, one of the most common is the overly high number of sweat glands present in a specific area. To control excessive sweating, BOTOX ™ can be injected into the area of the sweat glands to decrease the production of sweat.
